Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav is a modern regional institution, whose activities are based on the profound centuries-old traditions of educational development in Pereiaslav region and meet the modern requirements of the information society and the best examples of the national higher education. The most significant stages in the development of education in the region include the establishment of a theological school in 1702 at the Voznesensky Monastery, a school of iconography in 1706, Pereiaslav Collegium in 1738, Pereiaslav Pedagogical College in 1932, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi Pedagogical College in 1943, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi Branch of the O. M. Gorkyi Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute in 1986, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi Hryhorii Skovoroda State Pedagogical Institute in 1993, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi Hryhorii Skovoroda State Pedagogical University in 2002 and Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav since 2021.
